The cost will be $35 to cover transport and the first night at the DOC campground.

Hooker Lake (Cruisy)

For those of you who do not want to engage in too much uphill, visit the Hooker Lake and glacier on Saturday, the next day do day walks to Kea Point or Sealy Tarns. Camp both nights in the campground.

Mueller Hut

Medium-Hard)

A three to four hour uphill grunt will take you to Mueller Hut at 1800m. The climb is within most people’s capabilities if you possess a moderate level of fitness. Camp, snowcave or stay in the Hut. Soak in the views of a sunset over Mt Cook and listen to the thunder of the avalanches falling off Mt Sefton. Snowcraft skills are likely to be required. A medium hard option may be added to this, which will involve tramping on further up the ridge and climbing one of the nearby peaks, probably Mt Olliver.

We would appreciate confirmation of numbers as early as possible to allow for transport, leaders and trips to be organised. Please email Darren (dme23@ext.canterbury.ac.nz) if you’re keen to come.

In this email please set out: 1. What trip you want to do; and

2. Whether you have a car, and if so how many people can it take; and

3. If you are going on the Mueller Hut trip what snowcraft skills and experience you have; and
