Hey trampers!

Nice weather today eh. Beauty of a weekend too - couldn't have asked for a
clearer sky! A little more ice might have helped for snowcraft, but we'll
let that slide (...heh...slide...self-arresting...geddit...). It was awesome
to see everyone getting into it, and that was some amazing work on the
snow(cave)palace! If we've successfully whet your appetite for alpine
adventure and you want more, we'd definitely encourage you to take part in a
more comprehensive
MSC<http://www.mountainsafety.org.nz/Training/training_results.asp>or
CMC
<http://cmc.net.nz/node/546>snow course.

So, term three is nearly over and there's only one weekend left before
break, but we've been saving the best 'til last. That's right boys and girls
- bust out the gold lamé jumpsuits, the chest hair, the "french energy
drink" and the moves - because it's only 4 sleeps until BUSHBALL 2009! Who
will have the best costume? Who will sleep in whose sleeping bag? And the
most burning question of all...who will win the highly coveted toilet seat
award? All the action, all the scandal - this weekend at Lake Daniels. If
you haven't signed up yet, get it quick at tomorrow's meeting with $35.

Tomorrow's meeting is bound to be a corker too, we've got the one and only
Mr. Geoff Spearpoint, editor of Moir's Guide North and stalwart of New
Zealand tramping coming in to spin and tale or two and share some
photographs from his many years of adventuring. This guy did in 24 hours
what Tom and Ivor couldn't do in 6 days...

And of course, if bushball doesn't sound like your bag, Volker will be there
with some more sober options for your weekend too.

Lastly, don't forget about the Thermarest ProLite sleeping mat (big thanks
to R&R Sport<http://www.rrsport.co.nz/index.php/ps_alias/store/pi_storeid/6>)
that's up for grabs for the best TROG article from this term. Get your
stories to Kieran <trog at cutc.org.nz>! Tramp it! TROG it!

Faffer le goon :)
