[CUTC] [ CUTC Weekly Email No.9 ] In which an extreme battle is declared for Wednesday.

Hey gang, it's Tuesday email time!

Hopefully you haven't gone stir crazy after the weekend's rotten weather,
maybe like Brian you found a weekend of clear skies on a three day pub crawl
to the west coast and some real authentic snow (snow!!). It's been raining
in Wellington for four bloody days, I can tell you that.

This week at the meeting it's a battle (possibly to the death) for the crown
and title of extremest extreme-o. Our brave contestants are none other than
our familiar committee boys Volker, Dave, Vaughan and Tom. Be there to
witness the fierce competition as our heroes regale us with intrepid stories
from beyond the treeline and garner some inspiration for your own trips -
give 'em a run for their money in the coming winter months.

And don't forget! The CUTC annual pubcrawl is this Friday at 3:30pm at the
UCSA. I know there have been three different times advertised, but 3:30pm is
the real one! (We even made sure!) If you haven't signed up yet, you might
be lucky enough to nab a ticket on Wednesday, but you'll have to be fast so
get in touch with Lindsey or Monica as soon as possible (social at cutc.org.nz).
C'mon, all the cool kids are doing it! If you're already in, get your
costumes ready! The theme is outer space and word on the street is that Ivor
is coming as Princess Leia the slave - mothers lock up your daughters!

While I maintain that a hangover is a poor excuse to not go tramping, if
you're still partying at 7am on Saturday when the trips leave, not all is
lost. The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is in Christchurch on
Saturday and it's well worth a look. It's on at 7pm in the auditorium at
Burnside High School (just down the road), tickets cost $20 at R&R Sport.

And! Remember to TROG your adventures and get them to Kieran (
trog at cutc.org.nz) for publication at the end of the year and to be in the
draw for the TROG prize at the end of the term. Ask around on Wednesday
nights to find out where the TROG diaires are at so you can take one away
with you on the weekends and TROG in real time. A little birdie told me that
the Otago boys are struggling with Antics (OUTC's yearly journal) this year,
so 2009 is our chance to beat them at something (if not TWALK...sigh).

Anyway, see you tomorrow night. Over and out.

Giselle and Brian
