Hey there trampers,
Big ups to those of you who braved the weather last weekend. It sure was
nasty towards the alps!
The holidays are coming! This is an opportunity for longer harder trips, or
trips that are further away. If you have better plans for "Exam Time" and
want Volker to mention them tomorrow or at the last meeting - just flick an
email to Volker <trips at cutc.org.nz>. Since the year is winding down, make
sure all that stray club gear at the back of the wardrobe gets back to the
gear locker ASAP (that includes committee!!!)
If you have a Trog book - they really have to get back to the meeting so the
stories can make it to print. If you come across one, make sure to
contribute! We have another sleeping bag from the legends at R&R as the
prize for best article for this term!!! If you haven't already written
anything - start writing an article for our esteemed publication! Just email
it in to trog at cutc.org.nz by the end of the holidays. There is an even
easier option just to jot a few things down at the forums. Heres a few
topics to contribute to (or make your own):
- What I was doing instead of writing a trog
article?<http://cutc.org.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=117>
- Top 7 Wanders in NZ <http://cutc.org.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=114>
- 2009s best quotes <http://cutc.org.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=121>
At tomorrows meeting we have Andrew Buglass talking about the Remote
Huts<http://www.remotehuts.co.nz/> website,
the reasons for its creation, and what it has achieved so far. Hopefully
this will help raise awareness about remote huts, their plight, and the
various activities and projects that have taken place to help in their
preservation and retention.
This weekend there are a few trips down to the Mount Cook area. The Ball
Pass trip is a classic alpine route, and Mueller Hut is great (although a
bit expensive). And maybe even a trip called *raft craft*... come to the
meeting tomorrow to find out all the details and sign up!
Next week is the annual prize giving so send in nominations (with photos!)
for prizes to Lindsey <social at cutc.org.nz>. Also it is the AGM! So if you
are interested in getting involved in the running of the club make sure you
have a read over the jobs <http://cutc.org.nz/docs/job-descriptions.pdf> and
turn up to the meeting!

p.s if you are keen to run for a committee position at the AGM next week -
feel free come have a chat about what it involves.
